About
I was approached by Sorana's team with the request of making titles for her music video, "Kiss Back," and matching social posts based on her logo. With very little brand identity, I set out to narrow down an image that felt natural to who she was and how her sound felt. The result was this electric neon signage short-circuiting in an ominously vacant environment.

This project was an extremely fun way of imagining how a sound feels visually. The only necessities in the request were to keep the animation as red as possible to match the music video Sorana had envisioned. I decided, after a few sketches, that a massive neon sign would be best recieved. Starting out with sketches and picking different elements across multiple layouts that I liked, I moved into 3D to model the sign. Modeling it was no easy feat as I wanted more than some glowing text. After looking at multiple references, I realized that this sign needed some backplate element and prongs to physically hold it up to fully sell the vision. After completing all the 3D elements, the only remaining challenge was how to transition between titles. The solution was to flicker the signs' emission out with sparks emitting from various locations, tying the animation together. After modeling, I moved to After Effects for final compositing details such as fine-tuning the red emission, adding some camera blur, and enhancing the scene's glow.
